Cover Music Licensing · In partnership with EasySong

Their song. Your version, released the right way.

Recording a song someone else wrote? Get permission through EasySong, our licensing partner, then upload your Proof of Licensing in Allot Lines Center so your cover release can move forward.

Licensing is provided and billed by EasySong. Allot Lines may receive a partner commission.

01 Why a cover needs a licence

You own the recording. The song still belongs to its writers.

A cover is your new recording of a composition written by someone else. The melody and lyrics belong to their songwriters and publishers, so you need their permission before you release — even if you give the recording away for free.

For cover releases, Allot Lines asks for a valid Proof of Licensing before the release is approved for delivery.

01 / The composition

Their melody and lyrics.

Owned by the original songwriters and publishers. A licence gives you permission to use the work and sends royalties to its owners.

02 / Your recording

Your performance.

The master you recorded is yours. Distribution through Allot Lines concerns this recording and its metadata.

03 / The proof

A document you can upload.

Your Proof of Licensing shows the permission was obtained. Upload it to your release in Center for verification.

Royalties

Paid to the rights holders.

03 Services available through Allot Lines

One partner. Four ways to protect your release.

Each service opens on the EasySong website from Artist Services in Allot Lines Center. You complete the request and payment with EasySong.

01 / Cover Song Licensing

Release an audio cover.

Get permission for eligible cover songs released as audio — singles, EPs and albums. Provide the song title and original artist; licences for standard requests are typically delivered within 1–2 business days.

Use it when: you recorded an eligible cover without changing the lyrics or melody.

02 / Custom Licensing

For non-standard uses.

Licensing support for uses a standard cover licence does not cover — such as video and YouTube, printed lyrics or sheet music, changed lyrics or melody, parodies and other special cases. EasySong prepares and negotiates the request.

Use it when: your use goes beyond a standard audio cover.

03 / Copyright Registration

Register your own works.

EasySong reviews and files registrations with the U.S. Copyright Office for your original compositions and sound recordings, then sends a Proof of Filing. The official certificate arrives from the Copyright Office later.

Use it when: you want a U.S. registration record for music you created.

04 / Seal of Authenticity

Show your release is licensed.

A seal for artwork, web pages and merchandise. Scanning or clicking it opens your Proof of Licensing in the International Database of Licensed Music (IDBLM). One seal covers all formats of the same album or single.

Use it when: you want fans and partners to verify your licensing.

04 From request to release

Five steps to a licensed cover.

Licensing happens on EasySong. Verification happens in Allot Lines Center.

  1. 01Center

    Open Artist Services.

Sign in to Allot Lines Center and open Artist Services → EasySong. Choose the EasySong service that matches your release.

  2. 02EasySong

Select Continue to EasySong. Enter the song title and original artist, then complete your request and payment on the EasySong website.

  3. 03Licence

    Receive your Proof of Licensing.

EasySong sends the final Proof of Licensing by email as a PDF and keeps it in your EasySong account. Standard cover requests typically take 1–2 business days.

  4. 04Upload

    Upload the proof in Center.

Return to Allot Lines Center and upload the final Proof of Licensing to your cover release. An order receipt alone is not a licence.

  5. 05Review

We verify, then your release continues.

Our team checks that the licence matches the song, artist and release. Buying a licence does not automatically approve a release; verification does.

06 Cover licensing FAQ

Questions? Start here.

Clear permission, smoother releases.

Do I need a licence to release a cover song?

Yes. When you record and release a song someone else wrote, you need permission from the composition owners — even if the recording is free. Allot Lines asks for a valid Proof of Licensing before approving a cover release.

Does buying a licence approve my release automatically?

No. After you complete your EasySong order, upload the final Proof of Licensing to your release in Allot Lines Center. Our team verifies it before the release continues.

What is a Proof of Licensing?

It is the final licence document EasySong sends you by email as a PDF after your request is processed. A payment receipt or order confirmation is not a Proof of Licensing.

I changed the lyrics or I want to make a video. Which service do I need?

A standard cover licence is for audio releases of eligible songs. Changed lyrics or melody, video and YouTube uses, printed lyrics and similar cases need Custom Licensing.

Where do I pay, and who sets the price?

You complete your licensing requests and payments directly through Easy Song. Applicable royalties, rightsholder fees, and government filing fees are determined by the relevant authorities or rights holders and may vary depending on the service.

Does Allot Lines earn money from EasySong orders?

Allot Lines may receive a partner commission when you purchase through the link in Artist Services.
